The Netcom 5560-3 is an L-band tunable bandpass filter covering 960 MHz to 1240 MHz. The centre frequency is set in 2 MHz steps and the 3 dB bandwidth is 3.3% of the tuned frequency. The filter moves to a new frequency in 6 microseconds, so it can follow a receiver that hops or scans across the band.
Control is by SPI or parallel interface, whichever suits the board. The part runs from 3.3 VDC. Insertion loss is 5.0 dB typical. Rejection is 27 dB at 10% away from the tuned frequency, 33 dB at 15% away and 37 dB at 20% away. P1dB is +30 dBm and IIP3 is +42 dBm, so the filter holds up in front of a strong signal. It is a surface mount part measuring 1.50 x 1.50 x 0.25 inches and works from -40 to +85 °C.
