5560-5.5

The Netcom 5560-5.5 is a tunable bandpass filter covering 960 MHz to 1240 MHz. The centre frequency is set in 2 MHz steps and the 3 dB bandwidth is 5.5% of the tuned frequency. The filter settles on a new frequency in 6 microseconds.

This is the wide passband version of the 5560 family. The extra bandwidth buys lower loss: insertion loss is 4.1 dB typical, against 5.0 dB for the 3.3% version. IIP3 is also higher at +45 dBm. The trade is close in rejection, which is 20 dB at 10% away from the tuned frequency, 27 dB at 15% away and 31 dB at 20% away. Choose this version when the signal of interest is wide or the tuning needs some margin, and the 5560-3 when you need sharper skirts.

Control is by SPI or parallel interface. The part runs from 3.3 VDC, handles +30 dBm P1dB, and comes in a surface mount package measuring 1.50 x 1.50 x 0.25 inches. Operating range is -40 to +85 °C.
