5774-W-9.5
The Netcom 5774-W-9.5 is a tunable bandpass filter covering 90 MHz to 225 MHz in the VHF band. The centre frequency is set in 250 kHz steps and the 3 dB bandwidth is 9.5% of the tuned frequency. The filter settles on a new frequency in 10 microseconds.
The 250 kHz tuning step is four times finer than the 1 MHz step used on the higher band parts in this series. That matters here because VHF channel spacing is narrow, often 25 kHz or 12.5 kHz, so a 1 MHz step would be too coarse to place the passband accurately.
It is part of the TunePro 2W series and handles 2 watts (+33 dBm P1dB) in a 0.575 x 0.575 x 0.250 inch surface mount package. IIP3 is +45 dBm and insertion loss is 4.6 dB typical. Noise figure is less than 0.5 dB above the insertion loss. Rejection is 10 dB at 10% away from the tuned frequency, 15 dB at 15% away and 19 dB at 20% away. Control is by SPI serial interface. The part runs from 3.3 VDC at 30 mA and works from -40 to +85 °C.
Size is the real achievement here. At 90 MHz a tunable filter normally needs large resonators, so getting this range into a half inch square surface mount part is what makes a VHF preselector possible in portable equipment at all.
